Together, we will focus on giving you the support you need. Some of our goals and objectives may be:

  • Contain and work through the stress, anxiety, fear, frustration and helplessness that are often times brought about by witnessing and trying to help someone you love be overtaken by the forces of Bipolar Disorder.

  • Productively release the fear, anger, disappointment, and pain that intensely build up in caregivers and partners when Bipolar Disorder is much more powerful than the person living with it.

  • Focus on you, what you need to receive, how you want to grow, and have therapy be a time to take care of you.

  • Gain insider knowledge to the Bipolar experience.  If it's useful to you, I'll  share openly from my own and others' experiences, as well as years of research to help you understand what is taking place in your loved-one.

  • Learn to recognize when your loved one is vulnerable to an episode and gain insight into the early signs of mania and depression.

  • Develop practices of useful containment when your loved one is out of control and needs help.

  • Focus on being a support system, care giver, and ways of communication that promote stability.

  • Discuss the struggle of medication compliance and explore ways of talking about medication.

  • We may have the opportunity to develop a support group for people loving someone with Bipolar Disorder.
